Recent Activities
Major achievements in recent years (3 years):
7,790 leaflets, pamphlets and calendars have been distributed in the financial year 2021-2022 and 10,000 leaflets and pamphlets in the financial year 2022-2023 to create awareness about consumer rights. 10,000 leaflets and pamphlets have been distributed in FY 2023-2024.
1,63,500/- (11,63,500/-) through 96 market raids from July 01 to June 30, 2022 for the financial year 2021-2022 under the 'Protection of Consumer Rights Act, 2009', aimed at preventing anti-consumer rights activities. Eleven Lakh Sixty Three Thousand Five Hundred) and Rs.15,33,100/- (Fifteen Lakh Thirty Three Thousand One Hundred) through 131 Market Campaigns from 01 July 2022 to 30 June 2023 in the financial year 2022-2023.
And in the financial year 2023-2024 from 01 July 2023 to 30 June 2024 through 101 market raids imposed and collected a fine of Tk 13,74,500/-(thirteen lakh seventy four thousand five hundred). 08 complaints have been settled till 2022; Out of which 8,000/- (eight thousand) rupees fine has been imposed and recovered through 02 complaint settlement; 2,000/- (Two Thousand) was paid to the complainant as 25% of the penalty recoveredand 08 complaints have been made from 01 July 2022 to 30 June 2023 of the financial year 2022-2023; Out of which a fine of Rs.5,000/- (Five Thousand) has been imposed and collected by settling 01 complaint and Rs.1,250/- (One Thousand Two Hundred and Fifty) has been paid to the complainant as 25% of the recovered fine.
and 13 complaints have been resolved from 01 July 2023 to 30 June 2024 for the fiscal year 2023-2024; Out of which a fine of 50,000/- (fifty thousand) rupees has been imposed and recovered through settlement of 02 complaints and 12,500/-(twelve thousand five hundred) rupees have been paid to the complainant as 25% of the recovered fine.
Also, exchange meetings have been held with various business organizations and representatives. In addition, 39 awareness meetings have been organized in various training centers, business associations and markets in the last fiscal years 2021-22, 2022-23 and 2023-24 till June 30, 2024. Already consumers are easily filing complaints through e-mail. World Consumer Rights Day was celebrated on 15th March 2024 in District and Upazila.
